now that USA is out, what is actually important in the world cup

i mean obviously, go america and everything. i can not say that i am the biggest soccer fan and im not going to pretend to be some bandwagon fan, but if it has to do with the land of the free, i am obviously interested. and sure, if the games were shirts verses skins, then yes, i might pay more attention to the sport.  but now that the USA is out (*sad* *crying*) and i am never eating a waffle again (thanks belgium!) lets focus now on what is actually important in the world cup. the hot players in the game

4th of july

4th of july or as i like to refer to it as the 238th anniversary of the greatest break up letter courtesy of good 'ole tommy jefferson. who doesnt love celebrating americas birthday? i mean a whole day about 'merica, what could be better?? t i love the fourth because i love america, and i love making and crafting things for america! i mean come on, we are red, white, AND BETTER THAN YOU!

CRAFTS:

diy 4th of july wreath:
my mom and i made this wreath we bought a styrofoam circle (from michaels) and patriotic garland from the dollar store. we just wrapped 2 or three of them around the circle, and stuck in the decoration that we also got from the dollar store, and BOOM perfect (and cheap) patriotic wreath:




FOOD & DRINKS: (the important stuff)

red, white, and yummy strawberries:
super easy and super yummy (and healthy-ish) food that everyone can enjoy.
all you need are some cleaned strawberries, blue sprinkles, and white chocolate almond bark (thats what i use). melt the bark in a bowl, and dip your strawberries into the bark and place on a cookie sheet, that is covered with parchment paper. then allow them to cool slightly, and then dip the ends of them into the sprinkles. after you finish all of your strawberries, keep them refrigerated until you serve them!

american drink:
okay, seriously, how awesome is this?! it works because of the different densities of the drinks that go into it, this is one even the kids can enjoy! all it contains is, red fruit punch (i use hawaiian fruit punch), blue gatorade, and finally 7up or sprite. i like to serve mine in mason jars because they look super cute!

summer must haves

CHACOS! i can not stress the importance of this shoe. i wear my chacos almost every day during the summer because they have so much more support than just a regular flip flop yet they are 10x better than tennies because a) who wants to wear socks? b) those get really hot and dirty! you can wear your chacos to do pretty much anything outside, and they go with e v e r y t h i n g


FROCKETS! i frockin love frockets. i wear them almost everyday during the summer because they are the most comfortable shirts that i own. just throw these on over a swim suit, or with some norts and your chacos and BAM, most comfortable outfit that is still socially acceptable to wear. my favorites are from southern tide, vineyard vines, southern shirt company, and lauren james




CROACKIE! of course who doesnt love everything Lilly? go ahead a pick a couple of these up for the summer so that you always have easy access to your sunclasses. plus, you dont want to lose your sunglasses while you chase boys at the pool or waves at the beach!




JACK ROGERS! when i am not wearing my chacos its because i am wearing my jacks (#lovemyjacks). i am so obessed with these shoes. i have five pairs, by my favorite are my platinum pair because they seriously go with everything. its perfect because you can wear them with both silver and gold and they pair perfectly with any lilly dress you wear!



LILLY PULITZER! anything and everything lilly is always on my summer must have list! but every girl needs one good lilly dress in her closet for the summer months. i love the shift dresses, because they arent super tight, plus, they hide food babies from the world (can we give three claps for that). in addition, you are guaranteed to look completely adorable anywhere you go dressed in lilly. i also believe every girl needs a pair of lilly shorts, to be able to dress up any outfit. they are perfect for a day out shopping with the girls!

MONOGRAM SWIM SUIT! i practically live in my swim suit in the summer, and what better way to do that, than in monograms! plus, by getting a monogrammed suit, it makes sure that your sister and friends cant steal it from you! and holy adorable, i just love how cute they are!

BASEBALL HATS! i cannot stress enough how important it is for everyone to have a completely adorable and practical hat for the summer months. dont feel like showering? hat. dont feel like fixing your hair? hat. going to spend a day at the lake? hat. keep your face protected from the sun? hat. hat. hat. hat. hats are everything. my favorites are from polo and vineyard vines



MONOGRAM PFG! honestly, it doesnt even have to be monogrammed, (but lets be real, yes it does) but fishing shirts make the perfect cover up for the summer months. just throw it on over your swim suit and you already have the cutest cover up around. they are perfect for days spent on the boat!

CHINO SHORTS! chinos for days! honestly, jcrew does a fantastic job of making sure you have endless amounts of color options and shorts that actually come down past your butt! so go head to your local jcrew factory store, and when you show your student i.d. you can get these shorts for as low as $17, so go stock up!

MONOGRAM NECKLACE! okay, these are an all year round must have, but go ahead a finally order another necklace, because you can never have too many, right?! perfect staple accessory that goes with anything you are wearing.

3. i am an avid golfer, and have been sine 7th grade and hope to continue for as long as i can

10 books you need to read this summer

1. The Fault in Our Stars by John Green

maybe you heard of this beautiful tear jerking book, thanks the the wonderful works of john green, but it is still a must read (obviously before seeing the movie)

WARNING: gives unrealistic expectations of guys and relationships

2. Looking for Alaska by John Green

now that you have had your heart torn out of your chest and broken in a million pieces thanks to TFIOS, you have started a slight addiction to john green books, and looking for alaska is just as beautifully written, (with less tears, i promise!)

3. Its Kind of a Funny Story by Ned Vizzini

a beautiful, funny, and insightful story about depression that is not the least bit depressing. definitely a story that you, your mom, and sister should all read

4. Paper Towns by John Green

so if you havent figured it out by now, i am a little biased toward john green books, but i cant help that i like having my heart broken by him (thats the thing about pain, it demands to be felt) so go ahead a walk into barnes & noble and buy yet another john green book, because this is one you defiantly want to read before the movie (!!!!!!) comes out!






5., 6., 7. The Breathing Series by Rebecca Donovan
hands down, favorite (three) books that i have ever read (three or four times). rebecca donovan does a beautiful job of connecting the character to the reader as you follow the main character, emma, as she stays in the shadows at school and hiding a secret that nobody knows, at least until evan matthews comes to town

WARNING: you might fall victim to falling hopelessly in love with a fictional character (dont worry, it happens to the best of us)




8., 9., & 10. Divergent Series by Veronica Roth
who doesnt love diving into a distopian world, especially when you know theo james is one of the main charaters! such an interesting and plot twisting story that will keep you engaged to the last page, of the third and final book
